"Since I like more traditional techniques, I don't really care for the techniques that are used for applique and piecing in the "Egg Money Book". I am currently making this quilt, and I purchased this template set several years ago. I don't like this method of applique and piecing at all. It adds more bulk to the finished blocks and they have a "phoney look" to them when they are finished. I have adapted these patterns to my own idea of how a traditional quilt should look. "I'm crazy about this book-I'll never go back to needle-turned again. Eleanor's method is so perfect-no burned fingers and lovely sharp-creased edges - picking up just a couple of threads is almost effortless. Beautifully finished and fusible is almost indiscernible. With practice and a short foot, sewing opposing circles is very easy for me, so I wouldn't use fusible applique for Drunkard's Path or Apple Core blocks. But for flowers and figurals, this method is FABULOUS!"
